Its poppy season and i went out a few times early mornings to catch these flowers in the right light, Checking the forecast for the following day each time got up a ridicules early and made my way to this years chosen field, but luck was just not on my side, every time i managed to get the light was flat all i wanted was the warm glow of sunrise or sunset but i managed to pick about six different days all with terrible light.
They don’t last that long and i was just not having any luck so 2019 will try again

They turned the front lawns of Ragley Hall Hall into a fully fledged runway.

Talacre Lighthouse also known as the Point of Ayr Lighthouse is a grade II listed building situated on the north coast of Wales,it was built to warn ships entering between the Dee and the Mersey Estuary. It was eventually fell into disuse and was decommissioned in 1884. It is now a privately owned residential property.
Its a great area to explore and the beach is very open and during the summer very busy as its next to a holiday park. Another early start hoping for a great sunrise but arrived to nothing but clear and boring and as the sun rose was just a very bright blue sky, and suddenly every one appeared walking their dogs so got a few aerial shots before it got busy then setting up in the dunes with a Lee 15 stop ND filter to make something of a shot of this lighthouse. Great location and certainly go back, here are a few from the day:- To do anything commercially within the UK with a Drone or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) you need to have a PFCO a permission for commercial operation, so after long time thinking and saving! I bit the bullet and after a lot research i found a company called UAV8 that deliver Drone Pilot Training they are a company approved by the CAA that consist of 13 Military Pilots and instructors that deliver first class training to a very high standard that have incredible experience in unmanned and manned aircraft.
The course is split into sections of Theory + Exam, Flight Assessment and comprehensive Operations Manual, This takes aprox three days of classroom work and serious amount of time after to put your manual together once you have done this you can apply to the CAA with your certificates, operations manual and comprehensive insurance + a fee they will vet and approve once satisfied all correct. Know one owns the airspace in the UK but the CAA look after the safety of the airspace so there are rules for flying in this airspace and drones have been included as like any other powered aircraft that use share the sky. Very simply you can fly a drone to height of 400ft from the surface, you must keep it in visual line of sight and you need to keep away from built up areas, people and properties. Oozells Square is a small public square in Birmingham Brindley Place surrounded by modern offices and the Gothic looking Ikon Art Gallery which dates back to 1877 designed by John Henry Chamberlin.
Well worth a visit when the cherry blossom on the trees are in full bloom with a real strong vivid pink, its very striking against the back drop of the buildings and channel of still water and stone sculptures make great autumn shot Located at B1 2DJ This was more than a walk than a photography shoot, but worth a visit, overlooking the town of Burnely is a wind sculpture designed by Architects Mike Tonkin and Anna Liu completed in 2006 and is part of series of sculptures in East Lancashire as symbols of renaissance of the area.
The galvanised steel tree made out of tubular sections is about 3 meters tall, which harness the energy of the wind to produce a penetrating sound covering a range of several octaves, each pipe has been designed and cut with holes located to give the sound. Great place for walks and Car Park located very close if interested in visiting the sculpture Photos: - This was a free entry along with Instagram Birmingham / Dudley and Visit England, a great day if you haven’t been, it was cold day but luckily no rain, its good place to bring the camera as its spread over 26 acres of former industrial land partly reclaimed from a former railway goods yard a disused lime kilns along with former coal pits and a canal.
It opened in 1978 and most buildings that have been rebuilt here have been relocated from their original sites, and of course you can get a pint n the pub with a packet of scratchings or visit fish & chips shop served in newspaper. You can visit the shops and go down the coal mine and see the blacksmith at work all great fro any age and the camera! Just a few of the day Day after Birmingham Photography show with very aching feet spending days walking round the NEC armed with a new Benro tripod & head went to one of my favourite walking locations and well photographed Mam Tor in the Peak District an early start and I was at the Tor for sunrise but quickly realised wasn’t going to get any sunrise shots today extremely cold and blizzard conditions but every now and then it cleared.
Its very popular for Photography and I’m sure the grass is worn from the tripods but its easy place to get to from the car park and no matter the weather you always come away with a shot, Put the Mavic up to get a few aerial shots and you can really see the Mam Tor and its beauty from the air. Just a few from the day: - The Snow has fallen it was a Saturday and nothing on the roads and wanted to go out, unable to sit indoors when its like this so camera bag packed and headed to Sutton Park its not far from where i live but somewhere i rarely visit for some reason.
I was pushing my luck as the roads were quite bad, eventually made it and quickly realised how thick the snow was in the park a few dog walkers and thats it mad incredibly hard to walk through but was great to get out. it looked beautiful the trees covered in snow but did really struggle to find a composition i was happy with, I absolutely love woods and tree photography but find it very hard to ever find a shot i like in what i find confusing view of trees. So grabbed a few shots as I walked and of course put the drone up to get a few but thoroughly enjoyed the day. Just a few from the day Blog 27 Birmingham Instameet
